Overview
Peristaltic metering pumps operate by compressing a flexible tube with a rotating roller mechanism, moving fluid through the tube without contact between the pumped chemical and any metal pump components. This design makes them the preferred choice for chemical dosing applications involving corrosive, viscous, or reactive fluids — including chlorine solutions, sodium hypochlorite, acids, and coagulants.
Stenner peristaltic pumps are a standard specification in water treatment, wastewater treatment, industrial process water, and mining water management systems. WSI stocks a full range of Stenner metering pumps and replacement components.

Fixed-rate models deliver a consistent dose per stroke. Adjustable-rate models allow output calibration without tools, suitable for processes where chemical demand varies with flow or load.
Industrial & Mining Use Cases
Chlorination and Disinfection: Mining operations and industrial facilities treating potable water for camp use require precise chlorine dosing. Stenner pumps inject sodium hypochlorite or chlorine solution at controlled rates, maintaining residual disinfectant levels in compliance with US and WHO drinking water standards.
Bacteria Control: Bacterial contamination is the most common water treatment challenge in industrial and remote site applications. Peristaltic metering pumps provide reliable, continuous chemical injection to address bacterial loads without operator intervention between service intervals.
Scale and Corrosion Inhibitor Dosing: Industrial cooling towers, boilers, and process water loops require continuous inhibitor injection. Stenner’s adjustable-rate models allow dosing to be matched to system flow without replacing pump heads or re-plumbing.
Acid/Base pH Adjustment: Mining process water and industrial effluent frequently require pH correction before discharge or reuse. Peristaltic pumps handle acids and caustics without corrosion risk to pump internals, as the fluid contacts only the tube material.
Proportional Feed with Stennicator: The Econ Stennicator (1:128 ratio, 2.7 oz/min, 80 PSI) is designed for proportional chemical injection tied to water flow — suitable for irrigation systems, cooling water makeup, and process water treatment where dosing must track consumption.

Installation Considerations
· Tubing Selection: UV-resistant black tubing (100 ft x 1/4”) is available for outdoor or exposed installations. Versilon tubing is recommended for aggressive chemical compatibility.
· Injection Points: Install injection check valves (1/4”) at the discharge point to prevent back-siphoning and protect the pump tube from backpressure.
· Pressure Rating: Confirm system backpressure does not exceed the pump’s rated maximum. The 100 PSI models cover the majority of industrial injection applications.
· Tube Replacement: Pump tubes are consumable components. Replacement intervals depend on chemical concentration and temperature. WSI stocks No. 7 pump tubes and Versilon tube assemblies.
Maintenance Notes
Stenner peristaltic pumps have no seals, valves, or metal wetted parts — maintenance is limited to periodic tube inspection and replacement. Roller clutch assemblies and index pin springs are available as individual service parts through WSI. Ferrule kits (1/4”, PK24) are stocked for tube connection maintenance.
